Whoa! Don’t get in your feelings but the truth is the truth. There are lots of adults on the planet who avoid new fruits, grains and vegetables at all costs. While it’s true that many kids are afraid to try new foods, it’s also true that some of those kids grow up to be adults who won’t try anything new.
What can I say? We have to do a better job of putting more fruits, grains and vegetables on our plate. Our bodies need all of the nourishment that comes from nutrient rich foods. And if you are raising kids or you are part of a village raising kids, what you do and what you put on your plate matters.
And who am I to put it all out there like that? I am LA, a plant-based advocate from the Bronx who is intentional about helping Black women and families put more plants on their plate. We know that a plant-based lifestyle can support the fight against diabetes, obesity, heart disease and more. I know we can do better and I’m happy to show you how.
I feel so passionate about this subject and the kids that I wrote a whole blog post about it. Read it, save it and share it. These strategies just might work for you and the kids! You can check it out here: Picky Eater? 5 Ways To Get Them To the Table
The Recipe: Easy Vegan Egg Rolls
This one is throw back from the early days of Black Girls Eat. We loved making these and our picky eater loved being involved in the process. This is a good one to try if you are trying to get more plants on your plate.
The Random: Vegan Nacho Cheese Dip at Taco Bell
Starting this weekend, you can order a side of vegan nacho cheese dip at Taco Bell. This new sauce is made with soy and chickpea. Wondering if this matters to anyone?
Thanks for checking in with me this week. I hope you get out and try a new fruit, grain or vegetable. Do it for yourself, do it for the children!
