Well hello there! Welcome to spring and welcome to a brand new season of the Recipes and Random-Ish newsletter. I am your plant-based advocate and personal guide to recipes and ideas that make the most sense for you and your family. The goal is to help you figure out how to get more fruits, grains and vegetables onto your plate. This is a No Blame Zone. Wanna feel guilty? Not here! Black Girls Eat is all about knowing that we are all doing the best we can. #nuffsaid
I’m a Bronx girl who launched Black Girls Eat just about six years ago. A mom, wife friend, sister, cousin, daughter, and entrepreneur. No hocus pocus. No magic pill. I believe in the power of fruits, grains and vegetables and I know that small moves lead to big changes. I am here to help you make goodness out of what’s in the fridge and in the cabinets. I am here to help you navigate finding healthier food choices when everything around you is not even close. Yeah…I’ve been there. I am living proof that you can survive the Olive Garden and Chic-Fil-A !
The Recipes: It’s Easter Weekend! Let’s Eat!
When you visit the Black Girls Eat website, you will notice that almost all of the recipes are easy and most require few ingredients. You will also find that some recipes call for dairy products and some don’t. I personally moved away from having tons of dairy years ago for my own health reasons so there are times that I am using a plant-based mylk or plant-based butter when baking. Here’s what I suggest. Visit the site, find a recipe and modify it to fit your lifestyle. Some of us just need a jumpstart and then we can take it from there. I have a feeling that you might be just like that!
