Happy Friday!!!! I love this photo of me in the red jacket. Not because I think I look particularly glam but because that was the day I decided to apply to school to become a dietitian. I’m in week 5 of my very first class and all I can say is whew! The anatomy class feels like I’m in a pre-med program!
Before I go too far, let me say Hey! I’m LA and I created Black Girls Eat just about six years ago. I am a plant-based advocate. That means I’m advocating for you to get more fruits, grains and veggies on your plate. My goal is to share what I’m learning about plant-based nutrition and to find ways to share what I am learning about whole foods, super foods and organic foods so that you can remix your plate. The Black Girls Eat website has lots of easy plant-based recipes and you can always follow me on Instagram to check out the latest videos.
The Meet Up Hosted by LA Dunn of Black Girls Eat and Diversify Dietetics
Calling all nutritionists, food bloggers, food creators, home cooks, chefs and allies!!!! We are hosting a meet-up on May 4th with Diversity Dietetics. Why? Because building community is what I’m all about!
What is Diversity Dietetics?
From the Website: The idea for Diversify Dietetics was borne out of a need that our co-founders and registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs), Deanna Belleny and Tamara Melton, did not see was being met: a community to attract, encourage and empower students and professionals of color who were seeking careers in the field of nutrition and dietetics.
OUR MISSION
To increase the racial and ethnic diversity in the field of nutrition by empowering nutrition leaders of color.
OUR VISION
A nutrition profession that reflects the diverse communities we serve.
We’re inviting all professionals, students, educators, and retirees who support the Diversify Dietetics mission to sign up!
Now that I’m in school, I’ve found that it’s hard for me to write a blog post daily. There is sooooo much homework! lol. The Black Girls Eat website features recipes and lifestyle posts. That’s because without the knowledge to support the recipes, the plant-based journey is not really complete. Check out some of the latest lifestyle posts below:
