Happy Thursday! Happy Fall! Sending hellos from the Big and Juicy Apple that is New York City. It’s your friendly plant-based advocate, sending some plant-based love your way. My name is LA and I created Black Girls Eat to provide a space for you to go from plant-curious to plant-focused.
I’m all about getting the greens and I look forward to helping you find new and fun ways to add more fruits, grains and veggies to your plate. Wanna learn the basics? Take the easy 5 day email class.
How did You Get Here?
Maybe you signed up on Instagram? Perhaps you got here from the Black Girls Eat website? It doesn’t matter to me, I’m just glad you are here. Recipes and Random-Ish is my way of connecting with you. It usually comes out on Thursdays. There have been some glitches because life be lifing so I may have missed a week or two. That’s why I appreciate you hanging in there with me.
What I’m Watching
This past week was a whirlwind but I did get to re-watch The Game Changers on Netflix. If you haven’t seen it, you are in for a real education. It just might have you rethinking what you think you know about food.
What I’m Doing
I am all about the meal prep this week. The school and work schedule has me slacking. I need to get more organized so that I don’t start grabbing the wrong things at lunch time. Check out some of my strategies and mistakes to avoid in the blog post, Meal Prep Ideas To Save You Time and Money on the Black Black Girls Eat Website
What I’m Stalking
Every darn thing at Amazon. Well technically it’s the Black Girls Eat Shop on Amazon. Prime day was insane. I am replacing all of the old gadgets and food containers in my kitchen little by little. My new love? Bento Snack Boxes.
The Recipe: Miso Soup and Wonton Crisps
Miso is a traditional Japanese seasoning. It is a thick paste made fermenting soybeans with salt and other ingredients. Miso is rich in minerals and vitamins like zinc, copper, vitamin B and vitamin K. Fermented foods like miso are good for the belly.
The Random: French Fry Snob
I just wanna say this out loud. I am a french fry snob. I hate going to a restaurant that serves french fries that are soggy, oily or just plain old flavorless. It’s not just a fried potato. There must be structure to the fries and they must be well seasoned. Shout out to Copper Canyon Grill in Glenarden, Maryland for serving the best fries I’ve had this month. Perfection!
That’s a wrap! Thank you for spending time with me. I hope you get out and try a new fruit, grain or veggie this week. Be sure to subscribe and share with a friend!
