Whew! If you are anywhere near New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania then I know you felt that earthquake this morning! 4.8 on the richter scale. Wow! This week we had three days of rain, then an earthquake and now a solar eclipse on Monday????? I might be adding a flashlight, some batteries and snack bars to my to go bag. I feel like I’m in a bad movie!
Happy Friday! So thrilled to share another issue of Recipes and Random-ish. If we haven’t met officially, I’m LA. Black Girls Eat was created about six years ago when I started exploring new fruits, grains and vegetables. I became a plant-based advocate when I realized that we really can use food as a weapon in the war against diabetes, heart disease, obesity and inflammation. Follow me on Instagram to catch up with all of the latest posts and reels.
Inflammation was my problem. I had all kinds of aches and pains.Once I started adding more plants to my plate, I felt better. Then I got really excited about sharing what I was learning. I love sharing what I am discovering and I’m happy to be an ambassador for plant-based meals. I’m glad that you are here and I hope that these newsletters help you on your journey to making healthier food choices. I’m here for ya!
The Recipe: Spicy Sweet Potato Hummus
What a great way to get 2 plants on your plate! Sweet potatoes and chickpeas make this a winner. The inspiration for this one comes from Jeanné Clairborne author of Sweet Potato Soul. Grab some pita chips, breadsticks or your favorite crackers and enjoy all of the yummy vitamin c, protein and fiber that comes with this tasty treat!
