All You Gotta Do Is Say Yes
This past week I was afraid to say “Yes” a couple of times. It’s way easier for me to say No. When I say no, I often really want to say yes but it’s complicated.
Here’s the challenge. Saying yes to going to work out means that I have to take time away from something else. Like putting the laundry away or organizing my refrigerator. Anyone else struggling with getting through a pile of mail? I am not an insanely neat person but I can’t think when everything is everywhere. Saying yes to dinner with some girlfriends means I won’t spend the evening writing or creating. As a small business owner, you are the writer, editor, marketing and promotions team. I’m always worried about what is not getting done.
“Worry pretends to be necessary but serves no useful purpose”
― Eckhart Tolle
I heard somewhere that there is a difference between being selfish and self-centered. There are ways to move on the planet that would fall into the selfish category. We all know what they are. But I do like the concept of being self-centered. I believe that in order to be your best self….you do have to be balanced. You need to be centered. Saying “Yes” to the things that bring you peace of mind, calmness of spirit and pure joy can absolutely help to keep you centered on self. A healthy self.
Saying yes to good food, laughter and friendship are great ways to get centered when life has you whirling around. Making healthier food choices is a big “YES” to yourself. But, making really great plant-based meals and not sharing them could be considered selfish. LOL!
The Recipe: Protein Powered Pancakes
What’s a weekend without pancakes? I used to be afraid to make my own pancakes from scratch until I realized how easy it was. I started adding protein powder to my mix to make sure that we were getting a better nutritional boost while enjoying one of our faves. Sometimes we swap out agave syrup for maple. We always add tons of fruits and nuts which adds more fiber and nutrients. Lots of sneaky ways to make pancakes more powerful!
The Random: Plant-Based Cocktails Are A Thing!
Ha! I have some funny friends. They are not all plant-based but they are very quick to point out the things that matter to them. So it’s true, there are no animal products in champagne, rum or vodka and so many other adult beverages. In that spirit (pun intended). Check out this recipe for The Paloma. This an old school one but if you like grapefruit…you will be intrigued.
Thank you for spending a few minutes of your day with me. It means a lot to me to know that you find these words both informative and entertaining. Follow me on Instagram and Tik-Tok and be sure to have a plant-based and joyful week!
