Life has been lifing. I hope that this summer was kind to you. I hope that you were able to navigate the summer jams, picnics and holidays and still get more plants on your plate. My wish is that you move into the fall feeling good about discovering new ways to eat well, feel well and live well.
Welcome to Recipes & Random-Ish where there’s always food and some kind of random-ish related to this plant-based life of mine. I’m LA, a plant-based advocate from the Bronx and I’m serious about food but I don’t take myself all too seriously!
This year, I became a self-appointed Plant-Based Advocate. When I sat down to think about how I really wanted to help people, it became clear to me that I wanted to be an advocate. Advocating for you to put more plants on your plate brings me a lot of joy.
There is proof that a whole foods plant-based diet can influence life for people who are suffering from diabetes, heart disease, obesity and inflammation. I learned all about it in my classes at The Center for Nutrition Studies. I would like to help as many people as possible on their food journey.
I get it. We don’t all have access to everything we need. Grocery prices are insane. Covid-19 has exacerbated the situation for many. But I do believe that there are smart and simple moves that we can all make to increase the amount of fruits, grains and vegetables in our lives.
You will see what I mean when you take a look at the recipes at the Black Girls Eat website. Most are designed for ease and I’m never trying to complicate your life. Life is complicated enough! lol.
Sometimes all of the labels are just confusing. Vegan? Vegetarian? Pescatarian? The next time someone asks you to describe your food lifestyle, try this…
“I’m a human being who is looking for ways to add more fruits, grains and vegetables to my plate.”
I like it! Me personally? I’m interested in helping you go from Plant-Curious to Plant-Focused. That’s the shift that I believe will make a huge difference in how you bring plants to your plate.
